Towering Flamingo Murals Transform Leksa at CityPlace Doral into a Landmark Luxury Residence

Luxury apartment communities are increasingly looking beyond traditional architecture to create memorable living experiences. Today, large-scale murals have become one of the most effective ways for developers to establish a recognizable identity, increase curb appeal, and create destinations that residents proudly call home.

At Leksa at CityPlace Doral, internationally recognized mural artist Amir Shakir, co-founder of The Color Dreamers, completed an expansive custom mural installation that transforms the property’s architecture into an immersive work of art.

A Luxury Mid-Rise Mural Designed for Modern Living

Standing nine stories tall, Leksa is one of Doral’s newest luxury apartment communities. The artistic vision was developed specifically for the building’s unique architecture, allowing the murals to become part of the property’s identity rather than simply decorative additions.

The centerpiece of the project features two monumental flamingo murals, each positioned on one of the primary exterior walls that meet at the building’s corner. Rising dramatically above the resort-style amenities below, the flamingos immediately establish Leksa as a recognizable destination within CityPlace Doral.

Creating a Resort Experience Around the Pool Deck

Luxury apartments are no longer competing solely on floor plans and amenities. They compete by creating experiences.

The towering flamingo murals overlook a beautiful saltwater swimming pool, where elegant fountain jets produce movement, sound, and a calming atmosphere for residents. The combination of large-scale artwork, water features, tropical landscaping, and contemporary architecture creates an environment that feels more like a boutique resort than a traditional apartment community.

From nearly every angle around the courtyard, residents experience the artwork as an integrated part of the architecture rather than a separate feature.

More Than Two Murals—An Immersive Art Experience

While the two monumental flamingos serve as the visual anchors of the project, the artwork extends far beyond these signature walls.

Custom botanical murals wrap around each of the first-floor private patios, creating continuity throughout the courtyard. A striking 10-foot by 12-foot botanical mural highlights the building’s prominent flat corner, serving as another focal point within the overall design.

In total, the mural installation stretches more than 200 linear feet, creating a unified artistic experience that surrounds much of the property’s perimeter and continues throughout the interior courtyard.

Rather than isolated paintings, the murals function as one connected environmental artwork that guides visitors through the property.

Art That Welcomes Residents Before They Step Outside

One of the most unique design elements at Leksa is the relationship between the interior architecture and the exterior murals. Visitors entering the lobby can see the giant flamingos peeking through the upper windows towering above the salt water swimming pool. This visual connection blurs the line between indoor and outdoor space, giving the artwork a presence throughout the building rather than limiting it to exterior walls.

Connecting Architecture Through Botanical Murals

The artistic experience continues beyond the courtyard.

A connecting hallway leading residents toward the nearby outdoor shopping and entertainment district features large botanical leaf murals extending along nearly 100 feet of corridor walls.

These murals soften the architectural transition while reinforcing the tropical design language established throughout the property. The result is a continuous visual journey from the residential spaces to the vibrant CityPlace surroundings.

Why Mid-Rise and High-Rise Murals Are Growing in Popularity

Large apartment developments increasingly invest in custom murals because they provide lasting value beyond aesthetics.

For developers and property owners, large-scale mural installations can:

  • Create an instantly recognizable landmark
  • Strengthen brand identity for the property
  • Differentiate apartments in competitive rental markets
  • Increase social media visibility through highly shareable imagery
  • Enhance resident experience and community pride
  • Improve leasing center marketing materials
  • Create memorable arrival experiences for prospective tenants
  • Add long-term artistic value to the architecture

Unlike signage or temporary branding, architectural murals become permanent assets that continue attracting attention for years.

Custom Murals Designed for Luxury Apartment Communities

Every building presents unique opportunities for storytelling through art.

Whether designing a mid-rise mural, high-rise mural, luxury apartment artwork, hospitality murals, mixed-use developments, or commercial architecture, successful projects begin by understanding the building itself. The scale, sightlines, resident experience, landscaping, and surrounding environment all influence how the artwork should interact with the architecture.

At Leksa, the tropical flamingos and botanical themes complement South Florida’s natural beauty while creating an unmistakable visual identity that residents experience every day.

The Color Dreamers: Transforming Architecture Through Public Art

For more than a decade, Amir Shakir and The Color Dreamers have specialized in creating monumental murals and sculptural installations for luxury residential developments, hospitality properties, commercial architecture, and public spaces.

Projects like Leksa demonstrate how thoughtful artistic design can elevate an already exceptional property into a memorable destination—one where architecture, landscaping, and fine art work together to create a lasting impression.

Whether viewed from the street, the pool deck, the lobby, or the connecting corridors, the murals at Leksa transform the building into a living canvas that reflects the vibrant energy and tropical character of South Florida.

Relief Artwork in Luxury Building Design

Drifting away from traditional styles, the new luxury focuses on meaning, rarity and experience. Combining delicate beauty of classical ornate design with smooth and minimalistic features fill todays luxury spaces. Each element tells a story of prestige curated to create and impactful experience. Transforming spaces from impressive to unforgettable is hidden in the details. Developers, Artists and design teams are pushing the limits of interior architecture to build storied spaces for the future.

When a guest steps into a lobby where sculpted walls rise around them—shapes emerging softly from stone, bronze, or cast concrete—they feel more than architecture. They feel narrative. The relief transforms a flat surface into an encounter with something uniquely expressive. Light dances across textured surfaces, shadows breathe life into forms, and visitors sense that the building is alive and speaking to them. Art not only graces the walls, it weaves into and out of the surfaces.

A façade adorned with carefully crafted relief sculptures becomes a landmark and visual anchor in the city. For interior designers, relief artworks layer the atmosphere and exaggerate the mood. A dining space framed by abstract sculpted panels feels intimate, a lobby wrapped in sculpted reliefs conveys power and vision, a spa with organic, flowing botanical forms radiates calm.

Well thought out relief artworks offer versatility of materials and aesthetic. Materials can range from aluminum to plaster and textiles to preserved moss or cement finishes. They can be clean and modern or complex and classical with features ranging from minimal or elaborate. The mood of a space shifts with the time of day as the sculptural relief play with shadows and color temperature to create and constant shifting mood.

These artworks elevate the experience of any space and transform normal into special and spectacular. Relief artworks express capture the performance of an artist since such art is never mass-produced but tailored and crafted uniquely to a project.

For developers, relief artworks are more than embellishment, they are brand-building and memory making. Creating vibrant relief artworks and murals create timeless features that make a building turn into an unforgettable feeling. Collaboration between Designer, Architect and Artist defines a meeting place of function, beauty and meaning.
